TONTO VILLAGE, ARIZONA
About 17 miles east of Payson, a mile in from Highway 260, lies the tiny unincorporated community called Tonto Village. Elevation is 5720 feet. Situated in the heart of the Tonto National Forest, the quiet village has less than 200 homes, many of which are used by Valley residents to escape summer heat. Everyone enjoys the quick access to the Forest's many hiking and ATV trails. The community is served by the Hellsgate Fire Department Station #22 and the Tonto Village Water Company owns the wells that serve the residents. While there is no community center many social groups like the Domino Divas meet regularly at the Firehouse.
